Approaches and specializations

Trauma and Identity

So maybe you’ve been seeing the words “trauma”, “stress response”, “nervous system” on your socials and it’s been resonating with you. I’m here with deeper insight to help you on your journey of healing through trauma. When it comes to trauma, it often deeply impacts our identity and I believe it’s powerful to explore this as an avenue to heal.

If you feel you would like to deconstruct ideas from the past from institutions like religions & cults or work places. We will dive in through: establishing safety; mourning and remembering; and then look toward reconstructing identity and meaning for yourself.

Relationships and Sexuality

In an ever changing landscape of dating, sex, and relationships this can be a confusing and sometimes, heartbreaking . I’m here to navigate this with you. Attachment styles, cultural background, communication styles as well as other histories impact us. I am passionate about providing a sex positive space, that is trauma informed for individuals and couples who would like to work in this area.

Childhood wounding

So much of who we are, and how we relate to others in the world begins in our early experiences with our caregivers and social systems. I am passionate about navigating this with you and giving space for painful moments in childhood/teenage years. This will resonate especially if for those who identify with: having emotionally immature parents, children of immigrant parents, experiences of bullying and belonging, feeling lonely as a child.

If you resonate with the term, people pleaser and are working towards being assertive, this is where we begin-- in our childhood, and empower our present selves.

About me

Hey, it’s so nice that you’ve made it here. Thank you for joining me. It can be daunting to find a therapist that is a fit-- and this is so important! So here’s a little bit about me.

I really love being a counsellor. After working in the helping professions with many different hats, the space that resonated with me the most was sitting with people and having the honour of listening to their story. I have an MSW and registered in BC (#12254). I am humbled by being invited to step into people’s lives and witness the resilience, growth and meaning that people forge from their most challenging moments. Also as someone who has their own therapist, I know how freeing counselling, even if it’s a daunting start.

I’m a child of immigrants from South Korea, born in Calgary. I’ve lived and worked in Uganda, The Netherlands and Sweden, which were all incredible experiences which taught me so much about how big and wonderful the world is and how I have so much to learn. It also taught me about culture, loneliness and starting over again and again.

On my off time, I really enjoy a matcha latte, as coffee now gives me indigestion (which is too bad). I like to be in nature, spend time with dogs and cats, and chosen people in my life. I enjoy reality TV, fashion and pottery. I believe it’s so important to be genuine, and be able to both cry and laugh.

Emotional pain is not something that should be hidden away and never spoken about. There is truth in your pain, there is growth in your pain, but only if it’s first brought out into the open
